Chetaan Joshii: From IT to Literary Fame

Chetaan Joshii Unleashes “The Writeful Superpower” – A Journey from IT to Award-Winning Author and Mentor

Pune, India – From the structured world of IT to the boundless realm of imagination, acclaimed author, creative writing mentor, and screenplay writer Chetaan Joshii has carved a literary path defined by resilience, originality, and purpose. His latest work and continued contributions to imaginative writing underscore the power of storytelling as a transformative force for both writers and readers.

A former computer science graduate who spent over a decade in the IT sector, Chetaan took a bold leap away from corporate stability during the Y2K issue—a turning point that led him toward his true passion: writing. “I knew I wanted to live in a world of my own making. With a pen in hand, I realized I had complete control to do just that,” he says.

The publishing world in the 1990s was not kind to new voices. Struggling to find a platform for his growing collection of stories, Chetaan persevered. His breakthrough came with his first published book, Blind Man’s Buff—a title that opened doors to a full-fledged writing career. It all began with a heartfelt letter to publisher Jyoti Sabharwal of Stellar Publishers,

who saw potential in his work and chose to publish him. Today, Chetaan boasts seven published titles and a remarkable presence in Indian literature.

His recent book, Twin-Win Situation, is a genre-bending self-help fantasy that introduces a practical decision-making formula wrapped in an engaging narrative. The book has earned four prestigious awards:

  • The Golden Book Award
  • The Rise Insight Award
  • The Indian Literature and Art Society Award
  • The Ukiyoto Children’s Book Award

His innovative approach to storytelling has gained praise from readers and critics alike and continues to inspire audiences across generations.

Chetaan’s literary influence extends beyond his books. The Government of Maharashtra recognized his voice and invited him to author two books on tribal life, a significant honor in documenting marginalized stories. His co-authored novel, Literally Yours, written with Asha Francis, was featured at the Jaipur Literature Festival, while his graphic book Animal Palette, in collaboration with artist Tejas Modak, was shortlisted at the Comic Con Festival.

In 2024, The Literature Times named Chetaan Joshii as one of the Top Ten Most Influencing Writers in India, further cementing his place as a modern literary force.

Renowned linguist David Crystal, author of The Cambridge Encyclopedia of the English Language, lauded Chetaan’s writing in a written endorsement in these words: “Original ideas, diverse themes, compelling plots, and vivid descriptions. What more could one want? Chetaan Joshii is a great storyteller.”

Now also a sought-after creative writing mentor, Chetaan regularly teaches in media schools and colleges, igniting the imagination of aspiring writers and encouraging them to explore the full range of their creative potential. “Mentoring young minds is like helping them discover their own superpower,” he says.

His mission is clear: to elevate storytelling into a force that awakens empathy, psychological insight, and self-awareness. With each book, workshop, and screenplay, Chetaan aims to stretch the boundaries of imagination—and help others do the same.
