Anand, Gujarat: At just eight years of age, young theatre artist Kartavya Vaibhavkumar Rana is creating a distinctive identity in the field of Indian theatre, art, and culture. One of the most significant milestones in his journey so far is his achievement of 55 live mono-acting performances at 55 different locations across Kheda district, Gujarat, under Mission 50+.
This achievement has been recognized by the India Book of Records under the title “Maximum Live Mono-Acting Performances Promoting Indian Theatre, Art and Culture.”
Kartavya’s achievement, however, is not limited to a record or a number. It is the story of a young performer who embraced theatre at an exceptionally early age and has been using solo performance to bring Indian mythological characters, stories, and cultural traditions to audiences.
55 Live Performances and a Demanding Theatrical Form
As part of Mission 50+, Kartavya performed 55 live mono-acting presentations portraying Lord Krishna and Kamdev.
Mono-acting is one of the most demanding forms of theatre, as the entire performance rests on a single performer. The actor must independently bring together dialogue, voice, memory, facial expressions, body language, character understanding, emotional communication, and stage presence.
At such a young age, Kartavya has embraced this demanding form and performed repeatedly on different stages, developing his acting abilities through a wide range of characters.
His repertoire includes Bharata Muni, Ashwatthama, Yuyutsu, Shakuni, Kartikeya, Abhimanyu, Lord Krishna, and Kamdev, among other mythological and historical characters.
An Acting Journey That Began at Six Months
Kartavya’s acting journey began at an exceptionally early age.
In 2018, at approximately six months of age, he appeared as infant Lord Shri Ram in the English short play “Parashuram,” presented by Yashasvi Foundation, Nadiad. In the play, Lord Parashuram comes to bless Lord Shri Ram following his birth.
That early experience eventually became the foundation of his continuing journey in theatre.
Over time, Kartavya has also gained experience in films, short films, music videos, and advertising films. Despite these screen appearances, theatre remains the foundation of his artistic identity.
His Parents’ Faith and Dedication Behind Kartavya’s Artistic Journey
Kartavya’s candidature for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar – 2026 has been submitted individually under the Art & Culture (Theatre) category, with his application submitted through Yashasvi Foundation. His parents, Vaibhav J. Rana and Dr. Hetal V. Rana, have played a particularly significant role in supporting his artistic journey.
For a child to progress in the field of art and culture, talent alone is not enough. Family support, time, patience, training, guidance, and continuous encouragement are equally important. Kartavya’s parents have provided this support by understanding his interests and nurturing his abilities.
Vaibhav J. Rana, who is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Theatre Acting, has written and directed all 55 mono-acting performances presented by Kartavya under Mission 50+. From developing the scripts to guiding Kartavya in dialogue delivery, character understanding, acting practice, and stage presentation, he has continuously mentored him throughout the process.
At the same time, Dr. Hetal V. Rana has taken responsibility for costume and makeup for these performances. One of the particularly demanding aspects was Kartavya’s transformation from Lord Krishna to Kamdev within approximately 20–30 seconds.
Changing the costume, making the required makeup adjustments, and preparing the child for the next character within such a short interval required careful preparation, repeated practice, speed, and precision.
For the audience, the transformation lasted only a few seconds on stage. Behind those few seconds, however, was a mother’s preparation, attentiveness, and continuous effort.
This was not a formal team arrangement, but rather an example of parents personally and wholeheartedly supporting their child’s talent and helping him move forward in the field of art and culture.
Kartavya’s journey demonstrates that when parents understand their child’s interests, give the child opportunities to learn, and stand beside them throughout their efforts, the child can develop their abilities with greater confidence.
Kartavya is the artist seen on stage, but behind his journey to that stage stands the faith, guidance, and continuous support of his parents.
Yashasvi Foundation and a 15-Year Theatre Background
Mission 50+ was organized by Yashasvi Foundation, an organization that has been actively associated with the fields of art and culture, theatre, music, and dance for many years.
According to information provided by the organization, during its approximately 15-year journey, Yashasvi Foundation has staged more than 1,000 theatre productions.
It was within this theatrical environment that Kartavya’s Mission 50+ journey received its platform, enabling him to present live mono-acting performances at different locations across Kheda district, Gujarat.
A Record Alongside Multiple Honours and Distinguished Recommendations
Kartavya has received several awards and honours during his acting journey, including the Yashasvi Bal Abhinay Ratna Award–2026, Mission 50+ Excellence Award, World Theatre Day Award, Child Theatre Actor Award, as well as Best Child Actor Awards associated with Sundarvan and Parashuram.
His candidature for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar – 2026 has also received recommendations from respected personalities and institutions associated with theatre, cinema, academia, and culture.
These include Padma Shri Jagdish Trivedi, Akhilendra Mishra, Dr. Mahesh Champaklal Shah, Dr. Navneet Chauhan, National Film Award winner Abhishek Shah, theatre personality and film director Prem Rana, Natraj Theatres Trust, and Yashasvi Foundation.

At eight years of age, 55 live mono-acting performances represent an important milestone in Kartavya’s artistic journey, but his journey is only beginning.
His performances seek to bring Indian mythology, characters, stories, and cultural traditions to a new generation through the medium of theatre.
Kartavya Rana’s story is not merely the story of an eight-year-old who completed 55 live performances. It is also the story of a family that recognized a child’s talent, allowed him to learn, practiced with him, and gave him the opportunity to step onto the stage and build an identity of his own.
